FULLERTON-BASED DATA INTO ACTION RECEIVES THE ORANGE COUNTY BUSINESS IN THE ARTS AWARD FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR

Fullerton, Calif., December 1999 - - Fullerton California-based Data In Action, an innovative computer systems integrator and decision-support consulting group, was presented with its second consecutive Business in the Arts Award, by the Orange County Business Committee for the Arts, at a reception held Sunday, November 21st, at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel.

Always looking for opportunities to blend technology with the arts, Data In Action leverages its data warehousing and decision support system design expertise, to provide thought leadership and support for arts organizations. The company developed Show Pro, an out-of-the-box, box-office software that provides order taking, ticketing and data warehousing capabilities designed specifically for theatres. Show Pro, which is offered to members of the National Alliance of Music Theatres, was recently upgraded to allow extranet and intranet access and a web-based e-commerce application for costume, set and prop rental. This new online rental application has already helped the Fullerton Civic Light Opera realize a substantial increase in its rental revenues.

Data In Action has also sponsored an innovative program called Team Cabaret, which was piloted at the Fullerton Union High School Academy of the Arts. Team Cabaret was recently expanded to include a junior high and south county team, as well as schools in Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, and New York. By offering young people an opportunity to become involved with the performing arts, they learn about teamwork, leadership, responsibility, self-discipline and other valuable life-skills. Graduates of the program have expressed that this experience literally changed their lives.

After years of distinguished arts patronage, Data In Action recently launched its Technology In The Arts Practice, a unique idea incubator that combines the leading-edge technical and design capabilities of the company, with the vast creative resources of the artists, writers, composers, producers and performers who are affiliated with its subsidiary business units.

The Orange County Business Committee for the Arts is a not-for-profit organization committed to supporting the arts, to stimulating new and increased support from the business community, and to providing business with the resources and services needed to develop partnerships with the arts. The Business in the Arts Awards are presented annually in recognition of outstanding partnerships with the arts.
